Chamber receives top industry award for communications
The Chamber and its economic development arm, the Springfield Business Development Corporation, is thrilled to announce that it has received a Communications Excellence Best in Show award from the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE).
The Chamber was recognized for its digital brochure, a marketing piece primarily distributed to site selection consultants and key business decision makers to educate and reinforce target messaging on why businesses should locate to the region.
This tool functions as a traditional printed brochure, but also allows the Chamber to easily share its economic development video, as well as the first in the talent attraction video series, through a built-in video player. Making these videos mobile eliminates the need for an Internet connection, giving individuals the ability to experience our region before making a trip to visit and ultimately deciding if Springfield is the right place to live and work or locate a business.
ACCE handed out its awards on July 18 at its 2018 Annual Convention in Des Moines, Iowa. Rachael Mhire, the Chamber’s marketing coordinator for economic development, leads the marketing effort focused on business and talent attraction and was on hand to accept the award.
“Marketing the Springfield region is a highly competitive process, and we’re constantly looking for ways to make our message stand out from the crowd,” Mhire said. “We felt like this was a unique way to present our story, and it looks like our peers agree. We’re thrilled and humbled by this honor, and we’ll continue to look for new methods to get the word out about Springfield.”
ACCE’s Awards for Communications Excellence program is in its 34th year and is designed to showcase top communications and marketing work of chambers of commerce and similar organizations. The Best in Show award was one of only three handed out by ACCE in 2018.
