Students Go to Work Program
Are you on the hunt for talented employees? Are you contemplating what your workforce will look like five to ten years from now? Who will those future employees be, and how do we get students to explore the careers you offer in high-demand occupations now?
It’s simple and we need your help to make it happen. Introducing seventh and eighth-grade students to what your company offers is the first step in capturing their imaginations and sparking a passion. It’s also a great opportunity to expose students to career areas that have been considered non-traditional based on gender participation in the workforce.
Making the connection to career paths is where we need your help. We will be facilitating Students Go To Work events around Southwest Missouri on October 24th and 25th, 2023 for students in 7th and 8th grades. When students have exposure to businesses and career opportunities in their communities at an early age, they can get excited about the possibilities for planning their own future. It could help them choose appropriate courses in high school, and depending on their future goals, they could start their career and technical education in high school. These opportunities could then lead them to success in related postsecondary education and apprenticeships.
The goal of these events is for students to learn about your business and have hands-on experiences that would leave them thinking about the possible careers they could have with you or in your field. The hosts who report the best interactions with students offer tours and activities that keep them actively engaged.
If you are interested in hosting students click here to register, no later than July 20, 2023. If you would like further information about this opportunity, contact Karen Kunkel.
