The Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce announced today the appointment of Jonas Arjes as its new senior vice president of economic development, effective October. Arjes brings a wealth of experience in business, regional collaboration and workforce development to this pivotal role.

Arjes will guide the Chamber's efforts to foster a vibrant economy, build a robust workforce pipeline and work with stakeholders and partners throughout the 10-county region. He will oversee the Chamber’s economic development efforts, with a focus on business retention and expansion, business attraction, workforce development and positioning the region for competitive success.

Arjes is widely recognized as a dynamic and highly effective economic developer. Currently serving as executive vice president and chief economic development officer for the Branson/Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce and as executive director of the Taney County Partnership, Arjes has a proven track record of success. He has spearheaded 38 projects in the Branson area, resulting in the creation of over 1,559 new jobs, $53.5 million in new annual payroll and over $1.04 billion in new capital investment. He has also represented Missouri on international trade missions alongside Governor Mike Parson, promoting the state to global investors.

“I am thrilled to join the Springfield Chamber and continue driving growth and opportunity,” said Arjes. “The remarkable job and population progress in the region coupled with the Chamber’s outstanding commitment to fostering a thriving business environment makes this a truly exciting time for our community. I am looking forward to working with the talented team at the Chamber and its economic development arm to leverage and capitalize on this momentum.”

Arjes’ strong emphasis on regionalism aligns well with the Chamber’s focus on building partnerships that transcend city and county boundaries.

“Jonas’ deep commitment to regionalism and his proven ability to forge successful multi-jurisdictional partnerships make him an invaluable addition to our team,” said Chamber President Matt Morrow. “We are confident that he will help us amplify our strengths, address shared challenges and create a cohesive economic development strategy that benefits the entire region.”
